In alignment with the global observance of the 11th International Day of Yoga, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Madurai Branch organised an International Day of Yoga celebration on 21st June 2025 at Swami Vivekananda Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School (CBSE), Harveypatti, Madurai. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 95 students, who engaged wholeheartedly in the practice and message of yoga.
The program began with a soulful invocation. The yoga session was led by Shri B.Ashok Anna, Nagar Sah Pramukh, VK Madurai, who guided the students through the Common Yoga Protocol as prescribed by the Ministry of AYUSH. The session included warm-up and loosening practices, followed by asanas and Pranayama helped participants connect with their inner calm, ending with a deep relaxation and Sankalpa.
After the practice session, Ashok Anna addressed the students and staff on this year’s IDY theme – “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” He emphasized that yoga is not just a physical practice but a transformative path that connects the individual to nature and to the collective spirit of humanity. He drew on Swami Vivekananda’s vision of holistic development, highlighting how yoga empowers individuals to grow spiritually, stay mentally balanced, and act responsibly towards society and the planet.
The program concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the school management, the yoga instructor, and the participants for their cooperation and involvement.
The school management played a vital role in making the event a success, extending full support and making all the necessary arrangements — from venue setup to student coordination — ensuring a smooth and impactful celebration.
