Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Rural Development Programme (VKRDP), Tenkasi District Branch, organised a Free Eye Screening Camp on Sunday, 13th July 2025 at A.V. Higher Secondary School, Keezhapavur, Tenkasi. The camp was conducted in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, with the aim of providing accessible eye care services to the local community.
The camp was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Shri. Xavier Rajan, a well-wisher of Kendra. The programme commenced with a prayer chanted by Smt. Veni and Smt. Maheswari, followed by a warm welcome address by Shri. Kannan. The guest of honour for the occasion was noted businessman and supporter of the Kendra, Shri. K.M. Arulselvan. Sri. K. Sankaranarayanan also addressed the gathering and conveyed his best wishes for the success of the camp.
Shri. Karuppasamy, Tenkasi District Incharge of VKRDP, shared insights about the Rural Development Programme’s ongoing efforts in organising such medical camps and the long-term vision of ensuring accessible eye care for all.
A total of 172 people availed themselves of the services at the camp. Among them, 26 patients requiring further medical attention were referred to Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, for free advanced treatment.
Well-wishers including Shri. Babu and Volunteers of Tenkasi extended their support throughout the camp, ensuring smooth conduct and care. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri. Velraj, Assistant District Incharge, VKRDP Tenkasi.
The camp stood as a testament to the Kendra’s continued commitment to rural healthcare and community well-being.
