Vivekananda Rock Memorial & Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Thoothukudi Branch, organized Sri Maha Rudra Shata Chandi Yagna at Sri Ekakshara Mahaganapati Temple, Vivekananda Kendra campus, Kanyakumari from 28th to 30th September, 2023.

The three days program started with the Sri Maha Ganapathi Yagna, followed by Gaja Puja and Go Puja. Esteemed dignitaries, including Mananeeya Sri Balakrishnan Ji, All-India President of VRM & VK; Pujyasri Swami Chaitanyanandji Maharaj, Vellimalai Ashra; Sri. Pon. Radhakrishnan Ji, Former Minister of State (Finance and Shipping); Sri. Thalavai Sundaram Ji, M.L.A. of Kanyakumari Constituency, participated and initiated the Rudrabishekam.

The other Adhikaris of Vivekananda Kendra, namely Sri. Vasudeo ji, Secretary of VK-NARDEP, Sri. Ayyapan Ji, Secretary of VK-RDP, Kum. Radha Devi Didi, Dakshin Prant Sanghatak, Kum. Sumitra Didi, Tamil Nadu Vibhag Pravasi Karyakartha, Smt. Thangalakshmi Didi, Tamil Nadu Vibhag Pramukh and Sri. Balasubramanian Ji, Publication In-charge, VKPT also participated in the program.

On that evening, Purvanga Puja and Sri Shata Chandi Parayanam were perfomed at the Sri Pada Mandapam, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, followed by Archana and Maha Arati for the Devi’s sacred footprint.

On the second day of the Yagna, the proceedings commenced with Guru Vandana, Mahasankalp, and Purvanga puja, followed by the devotees performing Rudrabishekam. In the evening, Shata Chandi Parayanam (Chanting) took place at the Sri Pada Mandapam, Vivekananda Rock Memorial, followed by Abishekam to Devi's sacred footprints by the devotees and the Maha Aarati.

On the third day, Sri Maha Rudra Yagna was performed, followed by Punarpuja and Kalasa abishekam by the devotees. In the evening, Sri Shata Chandi Yagna took place, with the esteemed presence of Mananeeya Sri Balakrishnan Ji, All-India President of VRM&VK; Mananeeya Rekha Davey Didi, Joint General Secretary of VRM&VK; Sri. N. Krishnamoorthi Ji, Editor of Vivekavani, Tamil Monthly Magazine, and a Senior Jeevanvrati Karyakartha, along with all the Jeevanvrati Karyakarthas who were on the campus. The three-day program concluded with Sri Kamatchi Thirukalyanam.

Seventy Pandints from various parts of India participated in and conducted the Yagna. Leading the organizing team were VK Thoothukudi Karyakarthas, Sri. Muthukumar ji and Sri. Kallapiran ji. This dedicated team comprised 150 volunteers from Thoothukudi and Nagercoil, as well as Kendra Karyakarthas. Additionally, Chennai Karyakarthas, Smt. Valliammai and Sri. Viswanathan, along with their families, actively participated and volunteered for the program. Notably, over 500 local devotees also attended the event.

Annadhaanam (Lunch) was served for the devotees on all the three days. The program was well-coordinated with cooperation and support from Sri. Ananthasree Padmanabhan Ji, Administrative Officer of VRM & VK and Sri. R.C. Thanu ji, PRO, Vivekananda Rock Memorial.
