Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Vallioor (VKV-Vallioor), celebrated the 79th Independence Day on 15th August 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in the school premises with the participation of 725 students and staff. The programme was presided over by Shri S.K. Subramanianji, Correspondent of the school, with Rtn. Dr. T. Selvendiran, President of Rotary Club of Vallioor Central, as the Chief Guest, and Shri Ayyappanji, Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme & Tamil Nadu Prant Sah Sangathak, as the Special Guest.
The celebration commenced with Tamil Thai Vazhthu, followed by a prayer song. Dr. Selvendiran unfurled the National Flag, after which the students rendered a flag song. A welcome address was delivered by Kum. Sebika of Class IX. Students then presented a mass drill and a graceful Bharatanatyam performance. Inspiring speeches on the significance of Independence Day were delivered by Dr. Selvendiran and Shri Ayyappanji.
The programme also included a speech on freedom fighters by Kum. Mushkan Kumari of Class VII, as well as vibrant cultural displays such as patriotic dance, Tamil drama, pyramid formation, special property dance, hoops, and martial arts demonstrations like silambam and karate. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the Zonal Level Sports conducted by the Tamil Nadu Sports Association.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Kum. Baby Varshini of Class XI, followed by the National Anthem and sweet distribution. The celebration was conducted in a grand and inspiring manner.
