In the serene and spiritually charged atmosphere of the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, located mid-sea off the coast of Kanyakumari, Gurupurnima was celebrated with deep devotion on the morning of Ashadha Purnima (July 10, 2025). The tranquil dawn at Dhyan Mandir, the sacred meditation hall within the memorial, set the perfect backdrop for the observance.
The day’s proceedings began with Pratahsmaran and Karma Yoga Sloka Sangraha. 25 Kendra Karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra gathered in silence and devotion. All participants joined in the chanting of Guru Stotram, invoking the grace and wisdom of the eternal Guru.
Mananeeya Shri Hanumantharao ji, All-India Vice-President of VRM & VK, addressed the karyakarthas and spoke on the significance of the Guru and why Omkar is revered as the Guru in Vivekananda Kendra. In his thought-provoking address, Ma. Hanumantharao ji highlighted Sanatana Dharma as a profound and time-tested cultural and spiritual tradition, capable of answering the most fundamental questions about life’s purpose.
He emphasized Omkar as the universal Guru and called upon the participants to imbibe the essence of Omkar in their daily lives. He urged everyone to cultivate noble virtues and embrace the collective responsibility of protecting and nurturing Sanatana Dharma for the welfare of all humanity.
Following the address, the Karyakartas entered a few minutes of meditation, absorbing the spiritual vibrations of the place. The program concluded with a Pushparpanam (floral offering) to the Guru Omkar in the Dhyan Mandir, as a mark of reverence and gratitude.
The Gurupurnima celebration at the iconic mid-sea memorial served as a profound reminder of Bharat’s spiritual legacy, and the need to live in alignment with the eternal values of dharma and universal harmony.
