Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Kanyakumari (Tamil Nadu Prant) celebrated Gurupurnima on Ashadha Purnima (10th July 2025) with great reverence and devotion at Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham, Vivekanandapuram. A total of 1270 participants including students, teachers, parents, and dignitaries participated in the programme to honour the Guru tradition and express gratitude to spiritual and academic guides.

The event began with an invocation by students of Class VIII, followed by a warm welcome address by Kum. Bala Jasmitha of Class VII. The Guru Stotram was soulfully chanted by the school prayer group and joined by all attendees. Kum. Meera of Class VII spoke on the importance of Gurupurnima, and Kum. Ranson Joshina of Class IX reflected on the role of the Guru in shaping one’s life.

The Chief Guest, Shri Vikram Govinda Das Ji, Coordinator of ISKCON Temples, Kanyakumari District, addressed the gathering with spiritual fervour. He began with the chanting of the Hare Rama, Hare Krishna maha mantra and emphasized the Guru's significance, beginning with our parents and extending to teachers and Acharyas. He highlighted the example set by true teachers who guide by living their teachings.

Scholarships were distributed to meritorious students by the alumni of Vivekananda Kendra, encouraging academic excellence and dedication.

In his presidential address, Mananeeya Hanumanta Rao Ji, All-India Vice President of VRM & VK, stressed the vital role of teachers not only in education but in shaping the character and emotional development of students. He spoke on the importance of humility, discipline, and the daily reverence one should hold for their Gurus.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Kum. Selva Thanushka, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, guests, and participants. A memento was presented to the Chief Guest as a token of appreciation. The program was compered by student Kum. R. Sinthuja. The event concluded with the Kendra Prarthana, marking a serene and respectful conclusion to the Gurupurnima celebration.
