In a significant step towards reviving India’s ancient healing wisdom, Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Natural Resources Development Project (VK–NARDEP), conducted a grand certificate distribution ceremony for students who completed various levels of training in Varma Chikitsa (Varma Therapy). The event was held at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari on Saturday, 28th June 2025.
The three-year course, conducted at the Varma Research & Resource Center located in Kaluvilai, is part of VK–NARDEP’s continued efforts since 2013 to preserve and promote the indigenous Siddha and Varma healing traditions. The course has steadily attracted students committed to traditional healthcare systems rooted in Indian knowledge.
A total of 100 trainees, along with 25 family members, participated in the vibrant and spiritually uplifting event. Certificates and honorary titles were conferred upon students who successfully completed the first, second, and third years of the Varma Chikitsa programme. Those who completed all three levels received additional recognition for their dedication and skill.
Mananeeya Sri M. Hanumantha Rao ji, All India Vice President of Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, graced the occasion, blessing the gathering and inspiring the students to serve society with their knowledge.
Other dignitaries present included Dr. P. Suyambu, Founder and Chairman of PSN Educational Institutions, Sri Arasuraja Aasaan, Dr. Kannan Rajaram, and Sri Rajesh Ram Aasan, along with Sri. Vasudeo ji, Prakalpa Sangatak of VK-NARDEP and Sri. Ramakrishnan Anna, Prakalpa Pramukh of VK-NARDEP, all of whom have played pivotal roles in promoting traditional systems of healing.
In recognition of their outstanding contribution to the field of Varma Chikitsa, Sri Rajesh Ram Aasaan was honoured with the title “Varma Aasaan” and Sri Arasuraja Aasaan was conferred the title “Varma Guru”.
The occasion also marked the announcement of two new learning opportunities for trained practitioners: a specialised course in Ashta Varma Chikitsa and a one-day practical workshop on Spinal Cord Alignment.
