Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, Vallioor branch organized a 1008 Thiruvilakku Puja (Deepa Puja) at at Sri Valaiguruswami Temple, Balashethram, Kommadikkottai, Thoothukudi District.

This mass deepa puja, which was held on 24-09-2023, saw the participation of 1030 women hailing from more than 65 villages. The aim of the Puja is to invoke blessings for the prosperity of the nation and the well-being of humanity.

Smt. Chinmayi Anandhi Baskaran, Smt. Krishnaveni Sivagnanam, Smt. Kala Sabapathi, Smt. Chithirai Selvi Dhayabaran from Kommadikkottai lit the main lamp called ‘Thaai Vilakku’ and inaugurated the program.

The Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, Sri. Ayyappan Ji; VK-RDP Tirunelveli District Incharge, Smt. Janaki Pushpam; Shri. Chandra Balan; and Shri. Muthu Kumarappan from Kommadikkottai Sri Valaiguruswami Temple, along with Shri. Mariyappan, Principal of Sivanthi College of Education, Piraikudiyeruppu, expressed their greetings (Vaazhthurai) and blessings (Aasiyurai).

The event also provided a platform for Kendra Sisters to interact with attendees on the topic ‘Wake up Hindus’. Then Kendra sisters Smt. Chandra, Smt. Lalita and Smt. Saraswati lead and conducted the Puja, and all the participants prayed for the well-being of our country, for the preservation of our culture, and for the world.

The arrangements for this Thiruvilakku Puja were executed perfectly by the Kommadikotta Valaiguruswami Kala Mandram, Kendra Karyakartha Sri. Shanmuga Bharati Ji, and supported by other diligent Kendra Karyakarthas.
