In a spiritually uplifting and serene atmosphere surrounded by the vast expanse of the Indian Ocean, the International Day of Yoga 2025 was meaningfully observed at the iconic midsea Vivekananda Rock Memorial, Kanyakumari. The celebration commenced at 8:00 am on the morning of 21st June 2025.
A total of 31 karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra – comprising 9 sisters and 22 brothers – all staff members of the Rock Memorial, gathered at this sacred space to participate in the yoga session. The session included a series of loosening practices, selected asanas, and pranayama techniques, conducted with devotion and focus in the spiritual ambiance of the Rock Memorial.
Practicing yoga at the very place that commemorates the meditation of Swami Vivekananda adds deeper significance to the occasion. For Vivekananda Kendra, Yoga is not merely a physical discipline but a core element of its mission. The practice of yoga on the Rock Memorial – a symbol of national awakening and inner transformation – reaffirms the Kendra’s commitment to the integral development of individuals and society through yoga.
The gentle breeze, rhythmic waves, and the morning sun created a naturally meditative environment that enhanced the experience of inner harmony and oneness – beautifully resonating with this year’s theme of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.”
The event concluded with Shanti Mantra. The celebration stood as a powerful reminder of how Yoga, when practiced in sacred spaces with sincerity, becomes a transformative force for individuals and the nation alike.
