Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Madurai Chokkikulam Branch (Niyojit Nagar), organised the Guru Purnima celebrations on Saturday, 12th July 2025, at its Karyalaya in Raja Muthiah Residency, Madurai.

The gathering began at 5:30 PM with Prarthana followed by welcome address, wherein the speaker greeted all the participants and explained the significance of Guru Purnima — a sacred occasion dedicated to expressing gratitude towards the Guru and reaffirming one’s commitment to the spiritual path shown by them.

This was followed by a soulful bhajan on Guru, rendered melodiously by the Kendra sisters, filling the hall with devotional fervour.

The speaker of the day, Shri T.V. Prabhakaran Anna, Nagar Pramukh, Madurai, was introduced and invited to address the gathering. The programme was presided over by Adarneeya Kum. Sumitra Didi, Tamil Nadu Prant Pravasi Karyakarta, VRM & VK who added grace and inspiration to the event with her presence.

In his address, Prabhakaran Anna elaborated on the deeper meaning of accepting Omkar as the Guru in Vivekananda Kendra. He explained that Omkar guides us to look within, encouraging personal transformation through consistent self-effort. By refining our inner qualities and fulfilling our duties with dedication, we offer true service to society.

He also emphasised how Omkar inspires us to recognise the divine qualities in others, cultivating a gunagrahi (virtue-seeking) mindset. This inner humility fosters a spirit of unity, deeper interpersonal connections, and an ever-growing awareness of the divine presence in all beings.

In a deeply devotional moment, all participants offered Pushpam to Omkar, symbolising their gratitude and reverence. This was followed by the chanting of Omkar 11 times, creating a powerful and meditative vibration in the gathering.

The event concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra and the distribution of Prasad, leaving all attendees with a sense of spiritual fulfilment and inner joy.

A total of 15 participants including Karyakartas, well-wishers, and local residents around the Karyalaya took part in the celebration, making the event spiritually uplifting.
