Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, Madurai Nagar, Murugan Vistar (Balaji Nagar), celebrated Guru Purnima with devotion and insightful reflections at its Balaji Nagar Karyalaya on Thursday, 10th July 2025. The programme commenced at 6:15 PM with the chanting of Prarthana, marking a spiritual beginning to the evening’s observance.
Guru Purnima, a sacred occasion dedicated to honouring the Guru, is a time to reaffirm one’s dedication to the path shown by the Guru and offer oneself in service to their ideals. This spirit of surrender and inspiration was deeply felt throughout the event.
The keynote speaker for the evening was Smt. Dr. S. Geetha, Sahitya Seva Toli Sadasya, Vivekananda Kendra Prakashan Trust, Chennai. Drawing from the Guru Purnima message shared by Mananeeya Kum. Nivedita Didi, All-India Vice President of VRM&VK, Dr. Geetha delivered a compelling address that resonated with all present.
In her speech, Dr. Geetha explained the profound reasoning behind Mananeeya Eknathji Ranade’s choice of Omkar as the eternal Guru of Vivekananda Kendra. She highlighted that the symbol “ॐ” (Om) transcends all religious divisions and represents the universal spiritual force that can unify the diverse spiritual traditions of India. Eknathji envisioned Vivekananda Kendra as a platform where all such spiritual forces could converge for the cause of national rejuvenation.
She also reiterated Swami Vivekananda’s far-reaching vision of a non-sectarian temple—a sacred space where only Omkar is worshipped, uniting all paths in the service of Dharma. Dr. Geetha emphasized that such a temple would be the nucleus of a larger institution devoted to the propagation of Sanatana Dharma and the upliftment of society through spiritual awakening.
The event witnessed the participation of 30 people, including dedicated Karyakartas, well-wishers, and their family members. The gathering served as a moment of spiritual communion, where participants reflected on the Guru’s message and renewed their commitment to living a life inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda and guided by Omkar.
In addition to the Balaji Nagar event, another Guru Purnima celebration was held at the Anandalaya in Harveypatti, Madurai on 15th July 2025. The event saw the participation of 17 people, including Anandalaya children and their parents. On this occasion, Kendra karyakartha Shri Mahadev Anna addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of Guru Purnima in nurturing devotion, gratitude, and disciplined living guided by the teachings of great spiritual masters.
Both events concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the participants—to walk the path of service, guided by the light of Omkar, and to be torchbearers of Swami Vivekananda’s vision of a spiritually awakened and united Bharat.
