On behalf of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme (Tamil Nadu Prant), Kovilpatti Branch, a free eye screening camp was conducted on 22nd June 2025 at Geetha Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Thoothukudi, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
The camp was organised in collaboration with Aravind Eye Hospital, Thoothukudi, with the objective of providing essential eye care services to people from rural areas. Beneficiaries from 18 villages attended the camp. A total of 72 outpatients (OP) were screened, and 12 individuals (IP) were referred for further treatment.
The camp began with the lighting of the lamp by doctors from Aravind Eye Hospital. Shri. P. Jeevan Jacob, Secretary of Geetha Schools, served as the Chief Guest, formally inaugurated the camp, and addressed the participants, appreciating the initiative and its impact on rural health.
RDP social workers and volunteers from Thoothukudi district ensured the smooth and effective execution of the camp. They guided the participants, coordinated logistics, and contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.
