Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kanyakumari celebrated the Annual Day of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, the 162nd Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, and National Youth Day at Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham on January 12, 2024, starting from 2.30 p.m.

An active participation of approximately 1600 people, including students, parents, teachers, karyakarthas, and well-wishers, marked the event. The program was presided over by Mananeeya Sri Hanumantarao Ji, All-India Vice President of VRM & VK.

The programme inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by Mananeeya Sri Hanumantarao Ji, followed by the inspiring rendition of the ‘Vande Mataram’ song by the students of class IX. The air in the Swami Vivekananda Sabhagriham resonated with the spirit of patriotism and national integration. The Principal of the school, Smt. Sariga, welcomed the gathering and presented the annual report. The school choir team presented an energetic song dedicated to Swami Vivekananda.

Mananeeya Sri Hanumantarao Ji addressed the gathering, emphasizing key points. He highlighted the life of Swami Vivekananda as the life of Mother Bharat and underlined the sacrifices of millions for world peace, societal well-being, preservation of culture, and the nation's progress. Shedding light on the qualities of trust, honesty, and fearlessness embodied by Swami Vivekananda, who envisioned an ‘Eternal Bharat’ that continuously evolves in a harmonious symphony of strength, spirit, and service. He emphasized the purpose of life, not just for personal benefit but for the benefit of the entire world.

The talents of the students were showcased through E.A. competitions, and winners were awarded prizes, with Vasista house securing the trophy. House incharges, Smt. Nallammal teacher and Smt. Saranya teacher, received the trophy along with the toppers. Academic toppers of 2022-2023 were also honored by Mananeeya Sri Hanumantarao Ji.

The students beautifully portrayed our tradition through Bharathanatiyam, dance, song, and Villupattu. The cultural program was hosted by students Kum. Mary Refaya and Kum. SreeVarsha of class IX. Sri. S. Sanjeevi Rajan, Vice Principal of the school, delivered the vote of thanks. Smt. S.Viji, teacher, acted as the master of ceremony. The celebration concluded with Kendra prarthana.
