14 January 2013 Changlang - The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Changlang in befitting manner on January 12 last. The celebration started with mass procession which was culminated at DIET auditorium.

14 January 2013 Changlang - The 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated at Changlang in befitting manner on January 12 last. The celebration started with mass procession which was culminated at DIET auditorium.

A large number of people including representatives from Vivekananda Kendra Arunjyoti, VKV Schools, students, officers, officials, panchayat leaders and various indigenous organizations took part in the procession.

Speaking on the occasion M.C. Roy Addl. Deputy Commissioner, Changlang, said, Swami
Vivekananda was an ardent disciple of Rama Krishna, the first Hindu Monk in modern times who travelled on foot throughout the length and breadth of the country to spread the message of universal brotherhood, religious tolerance and social harmony. He appealed the new generation to follow the ideology and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda to remain united and to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. Roy asked every section of people to extend cooperation in the year long celebration started from 12th January.

John Jugli, ZPM, Changlang South, informed that, since 1984 onwards 12th January notified to be celebrated as ‘youth day’. The motto is to motivate and inculcate the valuable teaching and ideology of Swami Vivekananda in real life. He hoped the celebration would inspire the youths to bring new era of development, prosperity, progress and unity.

Earlier, in his address, G. Dingla ,VKV Alumini and Member of Swami Vivekananda Sardh Shati Samaroh (SVSS), Changlang, requested one and all to extend help and cooperation during the year long celebration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Among others, N. Changmi, Chairman, SVSSS Changlang unit, elaborated on the life and teachings Swami Vivekananda. Dhan Bo, Principal VKV Changlang highlighted the importance of celebration. SS Choudhury, SDO (HQ) also attended the function. The students of VKV School, Govt. Hr. School and Govt. Middle School presented colourful cultural items and melodious patriotic songs. DIPRO
