Children's Parliament of Vishal Bharat Sansthan organised a special winter session of the parliament to commemorate the occasion. Students of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Banaras Hindu University (BHU) also organised an interactive session with Swami Varishthanand of Ram Krishna Mission Home of Service in IIT-BHU premises on Saturday. Several competitions were also held. Meanwhile, Malviya Mulya Anusheelan Kendra, BHU organised a seminar on 'Youth Consiousness and Swami Vivekanand' at Malviya Bhawan on Saturday. Besides, Bharat Vikas Parishad carried out an awareness rally from Sampurnanand Sanskrit University to mark the occasion.

150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda celebrated KHONSA, Jan 13: The 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda was celebrated with various programmes in Tirap district yesterday.

At Khonsa, a huge rally was taken out carrying banners and placards depicting the message of Swami Vivekanda. A huge public meeting was held at Nehru stadium, Khonsa in which students, teachers, HoDs and public attended.

Speaking on the occasion, ADC H. Matcha quoting Swamiji said, “ Each soul is potentially Divine. The goal is to manifest this Divinity within, by controlling nature, external and internal. Do this either by work,or worhip, or Psychic control, or philosophy- by one or more or all of these and be free. This is the whole of religion. Doctrines, or dogmas, or rituals, or books, or temples, or forms, are but secondary details.”

In her speech, Pr. Vedatmaprana Mataji, Principal of RK Sarada Mission School, Khonsa highlighted the tremendous contributions of Swami Vivekananda in awakening the youth and a sense of nationalism. She said that Swamiji charmed the whole world with his knowledge and threw light on Swamiji’s triumph in Chicago.

Participating in the deliberation, Denhang Bosai said that when Swamiji went to Chicago to participate in the world parliament of religions he met many American intellectuals. He impressed every one by his vast oriental and occidental knowledge. Dr John Henry Wright, Professor of Greek classics in Harvard University in his introductory letter to the Chairman of the world parliament of religions wrote about Swami Vivekananda, “Here is a man who is more learned than all our learned Professors put together.” Quoting Swamiji, Denhang further said, “Life is ever expanding, contraction is death. The self-seeking man who is looking after his personal comforts and leading a lazy life - there is no room for him even in hell.”  Bosai exhorted the youth to follow
Swamiji’s ideals, love the country and be responsible citizens.

The day was also celebrated at Deomali and Longding in a befitting manner.  DIPRO

Our Correspondent adds: At Daporijo, more than thousand children from various schools of Daporijo complex, including parents, social workers and well wishers took out a Sobha yatra in the Daporijo township on the first day of the celebration of  150 birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Vehicle decorated with photos and quotation of Swami Vivekan led the procession followed by VKV schools’ band troupe and 100 small school kids clad in Swamiji’s dress.

Different slogans of Swamiji were chanted during the procession throughout the market complex by school children and other participants. The procession
culminated at Rijo Ground.

AK Krishn and Principal VKV School Daporijo chanted the devotional prayer dedicated to Swamiji and was led by students and public in chorus.

A J Don, the chief guest of the programme highlighted the life history of Vivekananda and emphasized his ideology. He also urged the students to follow the ideology of Swamiji.

“As Swamiji believed that “service to man is service to God, so we should work for the mankind,” he said.

Jumli Ligu also highlighted about the great contribution of Swamiji for the nation and he also narrated many short stories pertaining to moral values.
