In their paper ‘Integrating Cultural, Spiritual and Ethical Dimensions into Conservation Practice in a Rapidly Changing World',by Mark Infield & Arthur Mugisha, the authors bring out very clearly how each sub-set of cultural values are closely linked to various aspects of nature conservation.

This month we bring in our newsletter an excerpt from a concept paper that deals with cultural values and bio-diversity conservation. In their paper ‘Integrating Cultural, Spiritual and Ethical Dimensions into Conservation Practice in a Rapidly Changing World',by Mark Infield & Arthur Mugisha, the authors bring out very clearly how each sub-set of cultural values are closely linked to various aspects of nature conservation. This gives a valuable framework for nature and bio-diversity conservation through culture. For a society like that of Indian society such a framework is very much important and relevant.

We bring you the various activities that are happening at VK-nardep including the free medical camps, workshops on the revival of ancient and endangered traditional medical system, Bio-methanation plant training programme and installation of bio-methanation plants in Tamil Nadu.

"Sri rama jaya rama" Mantra was chanted during deep Pooja,  Shivalinga  Pooja and daily by our Balwadi school children, cultural class students and during monthly  meetings by our Balwadi teachers and Social Workers. Every month nearly 5,15,366 times mantras were chanted in 84 localities.

कन्याकुमारी । भारतमाता के प्रति अगाध प्रेम को संस्कार वर्ग के माध्यम से प्रगट करने वाले विवेकानन्द केन्द्र के बाल-तरूण कार्यकर्ताओं का शिविर हाल ही में दिनांक २३ से २९ मई को सम्पन्न हुआ । इस अखिल भारतीय संस्कार वर्ग प्रशिक्षण शिविर में ६४ भाई तथा ५२ बहनें, इस प्रकार कुल ११६ शिविरार्थी देश के विभिन्न राज्यों से सहभागी हुए ।

Like every year, VK Kanyakumari conducted Yoga Shibir from 5th May to 19 May 2012 at its Training Centre. 59 participants from all over India participated in the Shibir. There were also participants from Australia and Germany.

Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari has adopted the new environmentally friendly technology of “Plastic Roads”. Of over 3.5 km of roads of Vivekanandapuram campus – the Head-Quarter of Vivekananda Kendra at Kanyakumari - about 1 km is now “Plastic Road".
