The Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari (VRVK) have constituted a 15-member concept committee to chalk out a detailed programme for an year-long celebration to mark Swami Vivekananda's 150th birth anniversary.

Titled ‘Swami Vivekananda Sardha Shati Samaroha’, the event is been seen by the VRVK as a great opportunity to spread Swami Vivekananda's message to people across the world. The theme of the celebration has been titled as "Wake up Bharat! Enlighten the World".

In the last two centuries, no other individual has captured the hearts of the youth of Bharat, the way Swami Vivekananda did. He blew energy into Bharat which was indulging in self-loathe.

The north Karnataka unit of the Vivekananda Sardhashati Samaroh Samiti has organised programmes to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. Sudhir Ghorpade, associate regional convenor, and Vinayak Talageri, convenor of Dharwad district unit told presspersons here on Saturday that they would continue till January 2014. Processions would be taken out at district centres on January 12, 2013, and it would be followed by ‘Suryanamaskar Yajna’ on February 18.

To celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, the hindu Swayamsevak Sangh has organized a series of events for children. The launch ceremony of the birth anniversary will be held on his birthday, January 12, 2013 at more than 150 locations in the United States, according to two office bearers of the HSS, Vasant Pandav and Siddhesh Shevade.

The youth of the country should imbibe Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, Vishwa Hindu Parishad district president and Vivekananda Utsava Samiti leader, K. Ramudu, said on Tuesday.

Swami Vivekananda’s 150th jayanti festivities will be celebrated all over the country from January 2013 to December 2013, he said in the ‘Sankalp Divas’ programme organised at Saraswathi Vidya Mandir at Rajampet on Tuesday.

Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary was celebrated as Sankalpa Dina at Saraswati School here on Tuesday.

Revanasiddappa Jalade, school committee secretary said that cultural programmes and personality development workshops would be organised throughout the year as part of the celebrations.

Kolkata, Dec 21 (IANS) Lectures, seminars and cultural programmes, aimed at propagating Swami Vivekananda's message across the country to mark his 150th birth anniversary celebrations, will be launched by the Vivekananda Kendra here from Jan 12.

The year-long celebrations end Jan 12, 2014.
