Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu Prant, VK Rural Development Program (VKRDP), Kovilpatti Branch has been consistently conducting Yoga Satras (Yoga Camps) for the past 15 years. These camps are aimed at shaping noble individuals and nurturing committed social workers who can contribute meaningfully to society.
Continuing this tradition, the Yoga Satra for this year was conducted from 5th May to 11th May 2025 at Nadar Higher Secondary School, Pasuvandhanai Road, Kovilpatti. The camp was organized in two batches to ensure wider participation—brothers attended the morning batch from 6:00 am to 7:30 am, while sisters participated in the evening batch from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. A total of 62 participants took part in the camp, including 45 brothers and 17 sisters.
The camp was inaugurated with the lighting of the traditional lamp by Sri. Rathina Raja ji, the Secretary of the Nadar Higher Secondary School.
Yoga sessions were held by Sri. Paramaguru Anna, Prakalp Sah Sangatak of VKRDP and Sri. Velusamy ji, Yoga Pramukh, RDP Kovilpatti. For the women participants, sessions were conducted by Smt. Jayalakshmi, RDP Karyakartha. The sessions covered Loosening Exercises, Surya Namaskaram, Asanas, Pranayama, Relaxation techniques and Kriyas (Jala neti, Sutra Neti and Vamana Dhouti).
In addition to the yoga practices, daily sessions were held to share inspiring insights about Swami Vivekananda, the Vivekananda Rock Memorial, and the various activities of Vivekananda Kendra.
The concluding session was held on 11th May 2025, Sri Udayakumar Anna, Tamil Nadu Prant IT Pramukh, attended and spoke on the significance of the International Day of Yoga and elaborated on the 5 Utsavas celebrated by Vivekananda Kendra.
