Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, West Bengal Prant, Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya at Ferrargunj, Andaman inaugurated its 8 newly constructed classrooms on 7th September, 2023. Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS, The Chief Secretary of A&N Islands, inaugurated the classrooms as the chief guest.

Port Blair, Sept. 7

The newly constructed 8 classrooms for Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad Vidyalaya at Ferrargunj under RURBAN Mission by Zilla Parishad South Andaman was formally inaugurated today by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Keshav Chandra, IAS as the chief guest by unveiling the plaque in the presence of Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, ZPSA, Ms Smitha R, IAS, Secretary (RD/ PRI & ULBs), A&N Administration, Ms Veditha Reddy, IAS, Up Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Bhoominathan, ZP Member, Ferrargunj, Shri Abdul Bashir, ZP Member Chouldari Constituency, Smti Pramila K umari, Pradhan, Ferrargunj, Shri Sunil Kumar, PRI members, Officers from various Departments, students and general public of the area.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Secretary remarked that Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya reminds him of his school days where he began his early education at Vivekananda Sishu Mandir. He said, one of the biggest pros of studying at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya is the quality of education provided by the institute functioning under Vivekananda Kendra based on the principles of quality education and character building. He congratulated the Students, Teachers, Principal, Zilla Parishad Members and faculty of VKZPV as they begin this new chapter with the inauguration of these eight classrooms which will provide quality education to children from LKG to Class V. He lauded the Zilla Parishad for its tie up with VKV Kanyakumari to provide valuable education to students of A&N Islands whilst ensuring their overall development. He opined that, with the presence of VKZPVs in areas like Port Mout, Ferrargunj and Shorepoint, one can see different models of education which are available for students and not just Govt. Schools alone. This, he said, in a way will help foster the spirit of competitiveness in the field of education, thereby resulting in imparting quality education. He remarked that VKZPV Port Mout is one such example, where people are eager to get their child admitted to the school, due to the reputation and quality of education it provides.

The VKVs are guided by the values of Vivekananda Kendra, inspired by the general philosophies of Swami Vivekananda, he said, adding that such schools leave an indelible mark in the lives of students. The Chief Secretary expressed hope that with the inauguration of these classrooms, students of VKZPV Ferrargunj will be immensely benefitted as they will have access to quality education and infrastructure. He also expressed the desire to see the school expand into a Sr. Sec School in the days to come and etch a name for itself just like VKZPV Port Mout.

The Chief Secretary also lauded the developmental works taken up by Zilla Parishad South Andaman not just in the field of education but in various sectors and hope that the Zilla Parishad continue to march ahead with the same vigor in fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the people.

The Chief Secretary also inspected the newly inaugurated classrooms and appreciated the infrastructure made available for the students.

Speaking on the occasion, the Adhyaksh, ZPSA, Shri Sanjay Singh lauded the unwavering support extended by the Administration for the successful completion of the RURBAN Mission project at Ferrargunj for the benefit of the children. He informed that in South Andaman, there are three VKZPVs located at Port Mout, Ferrargunj and Shorepoint. He said, with the inauguration of these newly constructed classroom in VKZPV Ferrargunj, students studying in this school will have access to quality education along with the required infrastructure. He also highlighted the various developmental activities taken up by the Zilla Parishad and in meeting the needs and aspirations of the people through collective efforts. He informed that efforts are on to complete another 8 classrooms of VKZPV Shore Point by year end.

Earlier, the CEO, ZPSA, Ms Smitha R, IAS, welcomed the gathering and ZP Member, Ferrargunj, Shri Abdul Bashir proposed the vote of thanks. Students from VKZPV Port Mout presented a colourful cultural program, adding fervor to the occasion.
