INSPIRING INCIDENTS FROM OUR TEACHERS & WORKERS

1.T. NISHA NANTHINI/M. SUNDARI, THATTARMADAM, THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICT:

When we were on a home visit, Maharasi a crèche child received us with courtesy, offered us water and pressed us to stay for lunch. All these acts were beyond her years; it touched us deeply.

2. SRI DEVI, MANGAVILAI, KANYAKUMARI DISTRICT:

The children are taught good habits in the crèche. One girl went back to tell her grand mother in her childish prattle that she should get up early in the morning, brush her teeth and worship God. Her grand mother came to the crèche to report the events with great mirth and happiness.

Another child learnt a song about a squirrel bringing guava fruits. She went home, stood by her guava tree asking the squirrel there to bring a fully ripe fruit so that her grand mother’s teeth are not put to danger. Laughing, the grand lady came to report this commendable incident to the crèche.

3. T. MUTHUISWARYA, P. THANGAMMALPURAM, THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICT:

Karkuvel Raj aged three, a crèche - student went his grand -mother’s house. When his uncle was lying down asleep, Karkuvel Raj gently clapped his hands to wake his uncle up. The family members were happy at his gentle manners to arouse a sleeping person. The boy remembered the way he was woken up after his sleep in his crèche by his balasevika.

4. M. SEKAR, VALLIYOOR, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT :

One of the balwadi school was started at Idaichivilai an interior village in Thoothukudi district under the control of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, Valliyoor. That village people are spiritually oriented and united people. Mrs. Rajakili was the first Aya of that school and was serving there. Now her age is 60 and while filling up

of her retirement application form I found that her street was Emma Calve. One of the followers of Swami Vivekananda was named as Emma Calve. The name was registered in the Government records which made me to wonder.

5.S. THANGAPUSHPAM, KALANTHAPANAI, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT:

On 29.03.2010 I went to Vagaikulam, Arulmigu Pannirupidi Ayyan College to issue Certificates for the students. At that time Mrs. Rohini a Lecturer met me and told that while she was studying in Rani Anna College during that time she has participated in the cultural competitions and went to Kanyakumari to attend the 4 days camp. In the camp she got useful experiences and happiness in her life which she cannot forget. After the camp was over she returned her home with a feeling of leaving from the mother’s house. Those chances cannot be attained in future and now she has also married. Also she informed that if she gets chances like this she will participate with wholeheartedly. This incident made me so happy.

6.P. PUNITHAVATHI, ADAICHANI, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT:

We will conduct Samskara Varga at our school on every Saturday. One student named Jaya Sankara Kumari studied at our balwadi. At present she is studying VIth Standard at Pothukkudi Government Higher Secondary School. She has won so many prizes in the cultural programmes.

Last month she participated in a competition regarding wildlife at Tirunelveli and spoke the article which was prepared by me. After ten days the result was announced and she got the first prize. Next day she came to me and informed. She appeared before me as a balwadi student which touched my heart.

7. C. SASIKALA, NEW COLONY, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT:

One Mr. Saravanakumar studied at our Balwadi during 1985-86 is doing betal leaf business. He used to do small helps to us whenever we require. On the occasion of 1008 Deepa Pooja held at Ambasamudram I requested him to donate betal leaves for the pooja. He donated enough betal leaves for the pooja and also arranged for the van facility for the ladies who participated from the village. This filled my heart with pleasure.

8.C. LEELA, PEYANKUZHI, KANYAKUMARI DISTRICT :

In each of our crèches there are babies in the cradles. Our ayah used to sing lullabies to the crying children. Other big and small children used to watch this. One of our student Shivani was asked by her mother to look after her sleeping brother in the cradle. The mother had asked her to sway the cradle of the baby cries. Once the baby got wake up he started to cry. Shivani started to sway the cradle with the song, “Kannan Engal Kannanam” which she learnt it at the crèche while the ayah was singing for the crying babies. Shivani’s father came back from the office at that time and heard her singing, felt very happy at her quick response to her brother’s crying. He asked her who taught her the song and praised her for her sweet voice. He immediately proclaimed that after hearing this religious lullaby they will not listen to cinema songs. The parents came for the parents meeting and narrated this incident in front of all the parents. All were very pleased.

9.C. JAYANTHI, PUTHALAM, KANYAKUMARI DISTRICT :

One day one student left the eating place in a hurry without washing his plate well. Suguna came next and washed his plate and kept it in the rack saw that previous boy did not wash it clean so took his plate and washed it very well. I was touched by her action which was done without being told by others.

10.A. MARISELVAM, KARUVANTHA, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT:

The cultural class arranged a walking trip a pilgrim centre 6 km. away from this village. Two crèche children Ramya and Selvi wanted to come along. The balasevikas offered to take them in a Van on some other day. But the children would not listen. The balasevika yielded and the two children walked the entire distance of 6 kilometres and visited the temple. The balasevikas revised their opinion about stamina and grit of the children.

11. .C. SARASWATHI, AMBASAMUDRAM, TIRUNELVELI DISTRICT:

On 13.08.2010 we went to the colleges of the Ambasamudram area for the Velga Velgavey programme. First we went to Papanasam. We met the principal and then we went to Sivanthipuram for the cultural programme donation. Then we went to Alwarkurichi and met the Principal and returned at about 2.00 p.m.. Next we have to go to Ambai college. If we take food at that time the time will be getting delayed. So we avoided for food and went for the bus stand. At that time on the way in a temple they called us and provided prasatham. We were unable to refuse and hence took that and then proceeded with our job. We felt very much and impressed and thought that it was the Prasadam of Swamiji. We decided to sacrifice the noon food for the service of the Swamiji, but Swamiji has provided the noon food which cannot be forgotten by us.

12.C. MUNEESWARI, SIVAGIRI, THOOTHUKUDI DISTRICT :

At our balwadi school we were teaching about the charity character of Swami Vivekananda. One beggar went through the street of Selvi Muthurani’s house who was a balwadi student. Her mother refused to often anything for the beggar. But the balwadi student gave two rupees to the beggar which was given to her. Her mother wondered about her daughter and came to our school and gladly informed us. We were so happy to hear the same.
