On 23rd February 2012, over 2600 school students gathered at AV High School Kovilpatti Tamilnadu and performed 12 Suryanamaskaras enmass.This was their tribute to Swami Vivekananda for his 150th Birth day.This Mega event – first of its kind in Kovilpatti region - was organized by Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Kovilpatti Branch of Tamilnadu. These students were from 18 schools in and around Kovilpatti.
Mothers, with a smiling wrinkled face, celebrated the mothers’ Day in a fabulous way. The celebration started at 1.00 pm with various competitions like Rangoli, cooking, Chanting Gita Slokas, making things from waste materials, Musical chair, shot put and blouring ballooms, in which the mothers took part very enthusiastically.
Mothers’ Day was celebrated in a grand way in our school on 18.02.2012. Smt. Gomathy, Managing Director of Mag Gas, Vallioor & Mrs. Tamilselvi, Lecturer (English Dept) in TDMNS college, Kallikulam were the chief guests for the function. Mrs. Tamilselvi highlighted in her address to the gathering, the greatness of the children as well as their duties towards bringing up the children as good citizens. Nearly 85 mothers participated in the celebrations. Different competitions were conducted for the mothers and winners were honoured.
“Ramayan Darshan” – a pictorial Exhibition on the Ramayan, our National Epic, is coming up at Vivekanandapuram, Kanyakumari – the town where Swami Vivekananda meditated. The Exhibition through its 108 panels will depict important episodes from Ramayana and will have a 27 feet tall statue of Hanuman in front.

Vivekananda Kendra Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Kanyakumari celebrated the 150th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda in a tremendous manner. Our school, organized Viveka Bhanu- 2012 a Mega Suryanamaskar program- on 28th January 2012 in District level for the youth of today, to keep the body & mind healthy- under the magic spell of Swami Vivekananda’s message, “We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded & by which one can stand on one’s own feet.”
Republic Day is one of the most important national festivals in India. It is celebrated with great splendor of the grandeur to commemorate the enforcement of the Indian constitution on 26th January 1950. It was also on this day that our motherland was declared a total sovereign, democratic and republic state for the first time.
