Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamil Nadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Vallioor, celebrated the 34th Annual Day, 162nd Swami Vivekananda Jayanti, and National Youth Day at the school premises on January 12, 2024. Approximately 1400 people, including students, parents, and teachers, actively participated in the event. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Smt. Radha Radhakrishnan, the President of Vadakku Vallioor Special Grade Town Panchayat.

The program commenced sharply at 5:30 p.m. Smt. Radha Radhakrishnan, the President of Vadakku Vallioor Special Grade Town Panchayat, presided over the function as the Chief Guest. Accompanying her were guests of honor Sri. Radhakrishnan and Sri. Perumal, Vallioor RTO. The dignitaries were accompanied to the stage by the Correspondent Sri. S.K. Subramanian, Sri. Iyappan, the Secretary of VK-RDP, and our Principal Sri. T. Muthukrishnan.

The program commenced with the Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries on the stage. The school choir team sung the prayer song, and a warm welcome address was delivered by the teacher, Smt. Maribala. The memento was presented to the Chief Guest and guests of honor by the correspondent. The Principal presented the annual report for the academic year 2023-24.

The honorable Chief Guest addressed the gathering, followed by felicitation speeches from Sri. Ayyappanji and Sri. Perumal (RTO). Achievers were recognized through a prize distribution ceremony.

Colorful cultural performances were presented by the students. Bharat’s cultural heritage was showcased through Bharatham, and the kindergarten students presented a vibrant dance. Students from classes I & II contributed to the celebration with their dance performance. A thought-provoking Hindi drama was enacted, and a special dance conveyed the message of Vivekananda Kendra and its activities.

Yoga demonstrations, along with presentations of self-defense art performances in Karate and Silambam, were also done. A Tamil drama about goddesses was presented and the Ramayanam was brought to life through a dance performance. Engaging English drama and lively folk dances were also part of the program. The vote of thanks was delivered by the teacher, Smt. Devi. The event concluded with the Kendra Prarthana and National Anthem.
