Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, Tenkasi branch organized a 1008 Thiruvilakku Puja (Deepa Puja) at Arulmigu  Sri Ulagamman Sametha Kasi Viswanathar Temple in Tenkasi.

This mass deepa puja, held on December 9th, 2023, saw the participation of 1,180 women from around 54 villages. The aim of the Puja was to invoke blessings for the preservation of our culture and the welfare of the world.

Smt. Anusuya, wife of Shri. Raja, M.L.A., Sankarankovil, Dr. P. Thanga Thuraichi, NSS Incharge, Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam, Smt. Ramila Mohan Patel, Piranoor Border Shengottai, Smt. Sivakami Kumar, Coordinator, Vaigai Kalvi Nilayam, Smt. Kala, Vivekananda Vidyalaya, Tenkasi inaugurated the program by lighting the thaai vilakku (mother lamp).

Under the guidance of Sri. Angiras ji, Senior Jeevan Vratti Karyakarta of Vivekananda Kendra, Pujyasri Swami Akhilanandaji Maharaj, Aindharuvi Vivekananda Ashram and Sri. Ayyappan Ji, the Secretary of VK-RDP offered Asiyurai (Asirvachan). Deepa Puja Committee In-charge Sri. Annaiah Pandian, Kendra Well-wisher Sri. Sankaran, Sri. Mohan Patel and 15 Shiksharthis from Kanyakumari actively participated in the program.

The event also provided a platform for Kendra Sisters to engage with attendees on the topic ‘Wake up Hindus’. Arrangements for this Deepa Puja were made by District In-charge of VK-RDP Tenkasi Sri. Karuppasamy, with the assistance of Nagar council members Sri. Lakshmana Perumal, Sri. Sankara Subramanian, Sri. Raj Kumar, and the NSS Volunteers of Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam.
