Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, through all its branch centres across Bharat, celebrated the International Day of Yoga 2025 with great enthusiasm, aiming to bring forth Yoga in its true essence - as a way of life based on the vision of Oneness.
Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Odisha Prant, Brahmapur Branch organized a grand International Day of Yoga celebration on 21st June 2025 at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium, Brahmapur under the theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health”. The event was supported by other organizations in Bhrahmapur as well.
A total of 1,450 people participated in the event including 54 Kendra Karyakarthas and 126 members from other organizations.
The programme began with the arrival and assembling of participants at 6:00 a.m., followed by greetings and an introduction to Vivekananda Kendra. From 7:00 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., a guided yoga session was conducted as per the Common Yoga Protocol.
The programme was graced by several dignitaries including Shri K. Anil Kumar (Honourable MLA, Brahmapur), Shri Sushant Sabat (Advisor, IYD Committee), Dr. Tara Prasad Dash (Nagar Sanchalak, Vivekananda Kendra, Brahmapur), and Dr. Samarendra Sahu (Coordinator, IYD Committee). Shri K. Anil Kumar inaugurated the session with an inspiring address on the significance of Yoga.
The yoga demonstration was conducted by Kendra Karyakartas Shri R. Bhavanarayan and Shri Hemant Sabar, while Jeevanvrati Karyakarta Kumari Nilakshi Borgohain explained the benefits and proper practice of each posture. The entire event was coordinated seamlessly under the leadership of Dr. Shankar Majhi, the Programme Coordinator.
The programme received an overwhelmingly positive response. Attendees appreciated the clarity of the demonstrations, the inspiring speeches, and the active involvement of various organizations. A joint coordination committee ensured the smooth execution of the event.
Several media houses covered the programme. Reports appeared in Sambad, Samaj, Pratigyan, Prajatantra, and Bhanjadut newspapers, while Swatnatra TV and UTV broadcast highlights of the event.
The celebration reinforced the understanding that Yoga is not just a physical practice but a holistic way of life that nurtures discipline, harmony, and inner peace. The participation of a large number of individuals reflected the relevance of Yoga in modern times.
