Gurupurnima is one of the five Utsavas celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra. In Kendra, Omkara is revered as the Guru, and Gurupurnima is celebrated grandly by all branch centers and projects of Vivekananda Kendra across Bharat.
Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, RT Nagar Branch observed Gurupurnima on 13th July 2025 at Samhita School of Performing Arts with great devotion. A total of 48 participants took part in the programme.
The celebration began with a prayer by Kum. Isha, a 6-year-old student, setting a pure and heartfelt tone for the programme. This was followed by Deepa Prajwalan by the Chief Guests and senior Karyakartas. An engaging activity titled Mata Pita Guru Deva was conducted, in which all participants took part with enthusiasm, reinforcing the cultural values of reverence toward one’s parents, teachers, and the Divine.
Adarneeya Shri Prasad Ji, Karnataka Prant Pramukh, spoke on the concept of Omkara as the first Guru and its significance in Vivekananda Kendra. Adarneeya Prof. Mishra Ji, a well-wisher of Vivekananda Kendra, addressed the gathering on the vital role of Gurus in a student’s life. Their talks were interactive and impactful, especially for the children, who listened with keen interest and grasped the deeper significance of Guru and Gurupurnima.
Guru Stavan and Guru Bhajans were sung with deep devotion, followed by Pushparpan to Omkara with reverence.
The programme concluded with a spirit of gratitude and spiritual enrichment, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended.
