Gurupurnima is one of the five Utsavas celebrated in Vivekananda Kendra. In Kendra, Omkara is revered as the Guru, and Gurupurnima is celebrated grandly by all branch centers and projects of Vivekananda Kendra across Bharat.
Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Karnataka Prant, JP Nagar Branch observed Gurupurnima on Ashadha Purnima (10th July 2025) from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Sakalangana, the residence of Sri Ramnath Ji in RBI Layout, JP Nagar. A total of 13 people participated in the programme.
The venue arrangement and stage preparation were coordinated by Karyapaddhati Pramukh Smt. Laxmi Didi and Karyapaddhati Sah Pramukh Smt. Poornima Didi. The Utsav began with a prayer and Deepa Prajwalan by Prof. Shambulinge Gowda, Sanchalak, and Sri Ramnath Ji. The group chanted selected stotras and sang a bhajan on Guru, invoking a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.
Sri H. Ramesh Bhat Ji provided a brief introduction to the significance of the day and an overview of Vivekananda Kendra’s mission and its seva activities. He also shared the intention to organize a larger-scale Gurupurnima Utsav in the month of August.
Prof. Shambulinge Gowda ji and Sah Pramukh Sri R. Srikanth ji shared inspiring thoughts on the significance of the Guru and the relevance of Gurupurnima in personal and collective spiritual growth. Sri Ramnath Ji contributed a heartfelt touch by singing a self-composed devotional song on Guru Bhagva. Other Karyakartas also shared their experiences and reflections related to the Guru Tattva.
All participants did pushparpan to Omkar while a devotional song on Omkara played in the background. The celebration concluded with the chanting of the Shanti Mantra and the Kendra Prarthana, followed by the distribution of Prasada, marking a peaceful and heartfelt conclusion to the Utsav.
