Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti Arunachal Pradesh in association with District Health Society, Lower Dibang Valley District and Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya Alumni Association, Roing organized a Free PHACO cataract surgery camp on 23rd and 24th April ,2018 at District Hospital, Roing.
During this camp 47 patients were operated successfully with latest cataract surgery technology. Dr.Jitendra Talaviya and Dr. Abhijeet Deshpande from Nagpur, Maharashtra rendered their valuable services for the needy and elderly cataract patients of Lower Dibang Valley district. Appasamy Associates, Nagpur voluntarily provided the PHACO machines and Ophthalmic Microscope for the camp.
On 23rd April, the camp was formally inaugurated by Mitali Namchoom Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley and interacted with the visiting doctors and patients. The District Medical Officer of Lower Dibang Valley, Dr.R.Tatan and other dignitaries were also present during the inaugural program.
To identify cataract patients, the Mobile Medical Team of Vivekananda Kendra Arun Jyoti with the help of District Health Society, Lower Dibang Valley, organized five screening camps at Dambuk, Parbuk, Hunli, Koronu and Iduli in the second and third weeks of April. This is to be mentioned that this is the first Free PHACO cataract surgery camp in Arunachal Pradesh. Feeling the need of such camps, both the visiting doctors are interested to visit again for such free camps.
