Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari, Dakshin Prant, Tamilnadu Vibhag, Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme organized a Grand 1008 Thiruvilakku Puja (Deepa Puja) on Sunday, 12th May 2024, at Arulmigu Bagavathi Amman Temple in Kanyakumari.

1,037 sisters from more than 50 villages across four districts of South Tamil Nadu participated in the puja and invoked blessings for the prosperity of the nation and the enduring well-being of humanity.

 

Mananeeya Rekha Davey Didi, All India Joint General Secretary of VRM & VK, Aadharneeya Radha Devi Didi, Dakshin Prant Sangathak, Smt. Sitapriya Chokkalingam, Advocate Ms. Mathi, and Ms. Divya Sivaraman, lit the mother lamp and inaugurated the event.

The puja saw the participation of Vivekananda Kendra's Senior Jeevanvratti Karyakarta and Editor of Vivekavani, Tamil Monthly Magazine, Sri. N. Krishnamurthy Ji, along with Sri. Angiras Ji, Senior Jeevan Vratti Karyakarta, and other Jeevanvratti Karyakarta and well-wishers from Kanyakumari.

Smt. Latha extended a warm welcome to everyone, and the Balwadi children presented cultural programs. A dialogue-drama titled “Wakeup Hindus,” performed by Kendra Balashevikas, was also part of the event. Sri. Ayyappan Ji, Secretary of Vivekananda Kendra Rural Development Programme, addressed the participants during the Deepa Puja.

The Thiruvilakku Puja was conducted proficiently by Kendra sisters Ms. Kalarani, Ms. Anitha, and Ms. Rejitha.

Kendra sister Ms. Leela delivered the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of sisters Ms. Leela, Ms. Lata, and their team for the excellent arrangements made for the puja.
